Scottish Borders
The Scottish Borders is a bit of a Mecca for cycling, in that it is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in the whole of the UK. It is also relatively untouched by tourism and is an area with a relatively low population, offering great touring along quiet farm roads among the rolling Border hills. Once known for its textile industry and literary tradition (Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland's greatest authors was born and lived here), the area is now famous for being a great outdoor activity destination, with fantastic fishing, walking, golf and horse riding to be had. The small, friendly Border towns and villages give visitors a chance to experience the slower pace of life in this part of the country and offer a welcome respite at the end of a supremely satisfying day in the saddle!

Southern Scotland Skedaddle – 3 Nights
This tour is one of our more challenging routes but the views which that additional effort affords makes it more than worth it. We begin in Melrose, a beautiful, historic little town nestling in a valley surrounded by hills and forests. Indeed, over the course of the tour we journey along these valley floors, following the course of such famous salmon fishing rivers as the Tweed. We visit Abbotsford, the former residence of Sir Walter Scott, and Traquair, home to the Stuart clan, former Kings of Scotland. We do also scale the odd hill, but the tranquillity and beauty of the location makes all those aches and pains disappear.

Border Raider – 7 nights
Hundreds of years ago this region was terrorized by bandits from both sides of the border, who would cross into the other country in order to raid the border towns of their crops and money. This tour gives you a chance to recreate this on your bike (although without the terrorizing and stealing please!). We cross the border no less than 4 times and visit towns such as Kelso, famed for its cobbled streets and ancient Abbey. This region was once hotly disputed between Scotland and England and we travel past numerous fortified castles and battle sites. Fittingly, we start and finish in the rather confused town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, once Scottish, now English, having changed hands more times than one can count. In fact, its football team plays in the Scottish league and, due to a quirk of history it is still officially at war with Russia!
